SAS Leadership Elections – Candidates Wanted for Events Coordinator, Regional Rep, Web Liaison, and Vice/Chair

Do you have an interest in developing the solo archivist community, or know someone who would be an excellent leader? The Solo Archivists Section calls on our membership for candidates to join our 2024–2026 leadership team! Email the SAS Chair and Vice-Chair to nominate yourself, a friend, or a colleague. The deadline for nominations in the 2024 election is Friday, May 31th. 

We are looking for candidate nominations for the following positions: 

• The Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect (2-year term) serves as acting Chair in the absence of the Chair, participates in the coordination of section officer activities, and acts as Secretary as needed during the annual meeting. In coordination with the Chair, the Vice-Chair takes part in the coordination of officer activities so as to have a smooth and knowledgeable transition to Chair in their second year.

• The Web Liaison (2-year term) is responsible for maintaining SAS online resources including the section microsite, SAA Connect content, and all other member-focused online materials under SAS governance.

• The Events Coordinator (2-year term) is responsible for organizing, promoting, and hosting events in coordination with SAS officers as needed. Events can range from informal section meetups to knowledge sharing presentations from solo archivists. Events are a great way to bring solo archivists together!

• The Regional Representative Co-Lead (2-year term) Works with the other representative co-lead to create and manage resources of interest to solo archivists, and build community locally and nationally, and section officers in meeting member needs.

The committee meets on a monthly basis and time obligations are concentrated most near June (for annual meeting) and August (chair only).

• Candidate Name

• Job Title and Institution

• Headshot (high-resolution file) *optional but highly suggested

• Bio and Candidate Statement (1–2 paragraphs)

Prospective candidates must be current SAA members and members of the Section. The results for the 2024 SAA election slate of candidates will be announced in July 2024 via our microsite and listserv.
