Please join us for the Description Section Annual Business Meeting!
Date: Wednesday, July 10 from 01:00 PM to 02:30 PM (CT)
The meeting will include a recap of 2024 Section business, updates on ongoing projects, and news about upcoming Description Section Steering Committee elections. In addition, representatives from SAA Council, the Technical Subcommittee on Describing Archives: A Content Standard (TS-DACS), the Technical Subcommittee on Encoded Archival Standards (TS-EAS), and Social Networks and Archival Context (SNAC) will provide updates on their groups' ongoing work.
The meeting will conclude with a panel discussion on the topic of project management and archival description:
- Renae Rapp (CCNY Archives & Special Collections) will discuss processing manuals as tools for project management.
- Cathy Dorin-Black (NC State University Libraries) will outline the tools (Trello, Google sheets, and Google forms) used to track processing projects.
- Natalia Gutierrez-Jones (Loyola University Chicago) and Benn Joseph (McCormick Library & University Archives at Northwestern University) will clarify the steps in their processing workflow, accounting for the many people and tools involved from start to finish.
