The Oral History Section will host a community chat on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at noon PST/3pm EST titled, "Brown Bag Chat: Oral History Challenges and Opportunities."
Four speakers will share the good, bad, and ugly of their experiences with oral history recordings–whether its lessons learned, project raves, or anything in between. The chat will then open up to a free-ranging discussion with the audience about doing and stewarding oral histories, from first contact with participants to interviewing, transcribing, processing, preserving, and sharing recordings with the public. Topics raised in this session will plant the seeds for future programming, so be sure to bring your questions, frustrations, tales of woe, success stories–and brown bag lunch or snacks!
