PLASC Exhibits Blog Series
The PLASC Steering Committee is issuing a call for the membership as part of a new blog post series on "Public Library Archives Exhibits" for the PLASC blog The Finding Aid. We would like to feature the many different ways in which public library archives and special collections utilize their collections through physical and virtual exhibits for public outreach. Specifically, PLASC is interested in providing our membership with examples of other institutions' exhibits that focus on underrepresented groups, overlooked history, archives and community joint-created exhibits, or feature innovative displays or designs. We are interested in exhibits that led to the development of new policies, new standards and workflows, or helped increase public interaction with your archives.
We are asking for PLASC members to submit a short description of your submission idea, and any links to publicity or online displays for us to see as part of the publication selection process. Posts can feature photographs of physical exhibits, screenshots of virtual exhibit pages/content, publicity information/news stories, and links to any work product your institution developed as part of the exhibit creation process. Longer form posts are generally 800-1000 words. Shorter pieces can range from 300-800 words.
Author Bio
All articles should be accompanied by a brief author biographical statement (1-3 lines), and may include an image.
You can submit your blog post ideas by email with the subject heading "Exhibit Blog Post" to the PLASC email address publibarchives@gmail.com. Happy Holidays to one and all from the PLASC Steering Committee!
