The Descriptive Notes editorial team is pleased to announce the publication of a new post in collaboration with SNAC's Indigenous Description Working Group.

In "Piloting Reparative Description and Metadata in SNAC via the Indigenous Description Group," the Indigenous Description Working Group (IDG) of Social Networks in Archival Context (SNAC) provides an insight into the work of the IDG since its founding in March 2023, focusing on its work to improve accessibility to archival collections of Indigenous materials that are frequently dispersed, uncatalogued, or misrepresented.

Descriptive Notes is the blog of SAA's Description Section, featuring discussions relating to issues of archival description. We would like to hear from you about your case studies, projects, collaborations, and any conversations that would be of interest to readers. We are currently soliciting pieces for a new series on Cataloging Description. Cataloging, controlled access/search terms, and controlled vocabularies are an important part of access in the archives. In our new series, Descriptive Notes wants to explore the different workflows, choices, and vocabularies used by archivists as they describe their collections.
