As part of a campus-wide program introducing students to university resources, Bridget Retzloff and Zachary Lewis at the University of Dayton design a lesson plan using primary source materials from the University Archives and Special Collections to encourage student reflection on the ways objects convey meaning. The lesson plan asked students how they could tell their own stories through objects. Read how the lesson went in “Connecting Past and Present: Using Archival Materials in a Storytelling Exercise," which is Case 24 in the open access series Case Studies on Teaching With Primary Sources, sponsored by SAA's Reference, Access, and Outreach Section.
