  • 1.  Mentors Needed!

    Posted 15 days ago

    Dear colleagues,

The Society of American Archivists' Mentoring Program is currently seeking additional mentoring volunteers! The Mentoring Program connects participants with shared interests in various aspects of the archival profession into 6-month mentoring partnerships. The goal is to cultivate career development and communication between members with areas of expertise and members who want to build their knowledge within those areas.

We currently have people seeking mentors who may have some of the following qualities or experience with:

    • Digital Archives and Preservation
    • BIPOC
    • Archives adjacent roles (e.g., professional researcher, vendor, etc)
    • Government Archives
    • Archives as a 2nd Career
    • Tribal Archives
    • Disaster and Recovery Planning
    • Community Archives

Do you think you don't have any expertise to share? Some of our colleagues waiting for mentors are just starting in the profession and looking for advice on schools, classes, career trajectory, resume development, and interviewing skills. For inspiration and insight into what a mentoring partnership looks like, I encourage you to read the recent posts on the SAA Membership Blog written by recent mentoring partners to learn how a relatively small commitment can make a big difference in a colleague's growth.

Please consider signing up to be a mentor by submitting this application (click on "Apply to be a mentor").

    Thank you for your consideration,

    Kaitlin Trainor
