In addition to oral histories, original manuscripts and photographs, the Veterans History Project (VHP) at the Library of Congress also collects original works of art such as drawings, sketches, paintings, woodcuts, and other such two-dimensional artwork. In this presentation, VHP Reference Librarian Megan Harris will highlight a few of VHP's most notable art-based collections as well as the ways in which these artworks have been featured and made more discoverable through exhibits and research guides. Justina Moloney, VHP Archivist, will discuss her Story Maps feature highlighting VHP's collections of World War II era envelope art, "The Art of War." Story Maps at the Library of Congress are immersive web applications that tell the incredible stories of the library's collections through narrative, multimedia, and interactive maps.
