    The Library (https://library.gatech.edu/) at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia invites applications to apply for the University Archivist (Archivist II) position.
     
    Job Summary: 
    The Georgia Tech Library seeks a collegial, innovative archivist to lead the development, operations, and promotion of the University Archives collections, as well as assist with reference and instruction services. The Archivist will participate in library-wide committees, activities, and working groups, and in meetings, workshops, and training, for continued professional development, to remain informed and engaged with relevant current trends. This position will report to the Head of Archives and Special Collection. 
    The Georgia Tech Library Faculty may enjoy flexible work schedules, teleworking (up to 2 days post training), professional development, and a healthy work-life balance. This is not a remote position, but some teleworking hours are supported.   
     
    Job Responsibilities:  
     
    80% Archival Work: 
    • Lead the development of polices, workflows, and processes for appraising, arranging, describing, preserving, managing, and providing access to physical and digital archival materials (including training and supervising students and interns); 
    • Support the accessioning of university archives collections (physical); 
    • Build relationships with Institutional offices, programs, initiatives which champion and support all areas and communities on campus in collaboration with the Institute's Records Management program;  
    • Assist with reference and instruction services; 
    • Coordinate programs and services across library units and campus that promote the use and development of archival collections; and 
    • Other archival-related duties as assigned. 
     
    10% Scholarship and Creative Endeavors   
    • According to expectations for library faculty members, contribute professionally through research, scholarship, and creative activities.   
      
    10% Service to the Library, Institute and Archival Profession   
    • Foster positive relations with faculty, students, and staff and promote the Institute and Library's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.   
    • Serve on library and university committees as assigned.   
    • Contribute to the profession through service to professional organizations at the local, state, regional, and national levels, as appropriate.  
      
     
    Required Qualifications   
     
    Archivist II   
    • Appropriate terminal degree, typically an American Library Association (ALA) - accredited Masters degree, a degree in a subject related to archival work, and/or in the appropriate area of specialization.   
    • Either evidence of research, scholarship, or creative activity; or evidence of service is required, but not both.   
    • 5 years of professional experience.   
      
    Preferred Qualifications   
    • 5-years minimum experience with arranging, describing, and providing access to physical and/or digital collections;  
    • 2-3 years minimum experience with ArchivesSpace to facilitate access to archival collections;  
    • 2-3-years minimum experience with Encoded Archival Description (EAD) and Describing Archives: A Content Standard (DACS), or other related archival descriptive standards;  
    • 1-2 years experience providing reference assistance; 
    • 1-2 years experience developing and delivering instruction sessions related to archival collections; 
    • Minimal experience with supervising the work of student assistants and interns with archival arrangement and description;  
    • Minimal experience using Aeon; 
    • The ability to perform physical activities associated with the archival environment.   
      
    Up to two (2) years credit toward promotion to the next archival rank for previous professional experience may be given at the time of employment, in which case such credit will be stated in the offer letter.  
     
    Proposed Salary: 
    This is a benefits-eligible position with a maximum salary of $77,000 commensurate with education and experience.
