Scanning Technician (part-time)

OPUS Archives and Research Center is seeking a part-time Scanning Technician to support our mission of preserving and enhancing access to the special collections of renowned scholars in depth psychology, mythology, and the humanities.
Under the supervision of the Archivist, the Scanning Technician will focus on creating high-quality digital masters of documents, photographs, slides, and negatives. Key responsibilities include preparing fragile materials for scanning, operating scanners according to archival standards, labeling digital files, standardizing descriptions, recording metadata, and assisting with related projects as needed.
The ideal candidate will have exceptional attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills. They should be highly organized, able to work independently while knowing when to seek guidance, and capable of handling rare and delicate materials with care over extended periods. Prior experience in a library, archives, or museum setting is preferred.
Required skills include proficiency with computers and familiarity with MS Office or similar word processing and spreadsheet applications, as well as Adobe Photoshop, scanning equipment, software, or photography technology.
This position requires sustained focus in a technical lab environment, frequent standing, computer and keyboard use, and the ability to lift boxes up to 40 pounds.
Hours and Compensation:
o Part-time: approximately 30-32 hours per week
o $20 per hour
o Paid twice monthly
