Do you like organizing events, communicating with donors, coordinating volunteers, fielding logistics questions, keeping track of deadlines, and otherwise running an exciting event? If yes, you might have what it takes to put together the SAA Silent Auctions!
Hosted by the SAA Preservation Section Steering Committee, the annual Silent Auction raises money for the National Disaster Recovery Fund for Archives (NDRFA). This year, the auction raised just over $5,000 for the fund, which provides grants that support the recovery of archival collections from major disasters, regardless of region or repository type.
The Silent Auction takes place annually at the SAA Annual Meeting, which in 2026 will be from July 29 to Aug. 1 in New Orleans. Donors from throughout the archival community give generously to the auction every year. The auction coordinator serves on the Preservation Section Steering Committee (a 2-year term) and recruits volunteers for the Silent Auction Committee, and the auction itself, each year.
