The International Archival Affairs Section Steering Committee has many ideas for exciting and interesting collaborative projects this year. Please consider joining us to volunteer and get involved!
We are looking for SAA members to join us in either short-term or longer-term programs and projects. This is a great opportunity to meet more people also interested in the international aspects of archival work, to work closely with the SAA leadership, and to put your own ideas and interests into action.
· We are happy to hear from those of you that have anywhere from 3 to 12 months to commit working on a single event, or on a larger project. These may include our Landscape Seminar Series and other hosted-discussions with archivists from around the world; facilitating translations (global language abilities welcome!); applying for funding opportunities; and developing a new program on the topic of imperiled archives and archivists.
· We welcome, too, your own and different ideas from the above. Feel free to contact us with your own thoughts and interests!
· In addition, we are seeking a newer professional to join us on the steering committee as an Early-Career Member. Early-Career Members will serve the section through the next annual meeting, with an option to extend the experience another year. This person will be appointed by the Section Senior Co-Chair, and will work directly with section leadership, participating in steering committee monthly conference calls and on section projects. The Early-Career Member program was established by SAA to provide strong mentorship opportunities to newer archivists while allowing them to see the inner workings of our section and contribute to important work. Students are welcome to apply! The Early-Career Member will need to be a member of SAA, so this is a great opportunity for students or new professionals not yet members of SAA to join for the lower membership rates. If you have questions about the process or the role and responsibilities of the Early-Career Member, then please do not hesitate to ask.
If you are interested in any of these opportunities above, please submit the following information to Ellen Engseth (eengseth@umn.edu) by October 24th, 2022: name; job title or role; institution/organization/affiliation; a brief biography (1-2 paragraphs); and a brief statement describing your interest in volunteering with the steering committee (1-2 paragraphs).
Thank you!
