Dear Colleagues,
Descriptive Notes is issuing a call for its next series highlighting Accessioning Description.
What goes into writing the description for a newly accessioned collection at your institution? What data do you capture, and how do you capture it? Has a specific collection presented unique challenges, requiring you to adopt new practices or reevaluate old ways of doing things? How does the description written during the accessioning stage factor into the other aspects of the archival workflow? Does it provide guidance during processing? Is it incorporated into a finding aid? Whether writing stub catalog records, creating aggregate finding aids, managing metadata in an accessions database, or anything else related to accessioning description, Descriptive Notes wants to hear from you!
