Calling all Manuscripts Enthusiasts!
The Manuscripts Repositories Section is seeking candidates for section leadership positions: Vice Chair/Chair Elect, and Steering Committee (3 members). Getting involved in the section leadership is a great way to help set the course for section priorities, develop new initiatives, and connect with colleagues.
All members of the section are eligible to be nominated. We welcome archivists at all levels of their careers! New professionals, mid-career folks, and seasoned veterans should all consider joining the section leadership. The only requirement is membership in SAA and the section itself, and an interest in manuscript collections and repositories.
Vice Chair/Chair Elect: Serves as Vice Chair from the conclusion of the 2024 meeting through the 2025 meeting; works with the Chair and Steering Committee in establishing an agenda for the year; works to ensure that sessions of interest to Section members appear on the SAA program for the following year; prepares for term of service as Chair in 2025-2026; takes minutes during the annual Section meeting. The Vice Chair / Chair Elect must attend the annual Section meeting.
Steering Committee (3 Members): Serves for two years from the end of the 2024 meeting through the 2026 meeting; serves on the Nominations and Election Committee for 2025; assists in planning for the annual Section meeting; participates in Steering Committee meetings; helps set the agenda for the year; and contributes to other Section activities. Steering Committee members are expected to attend the annual Section meeting.
Candidates must be members of SAA and the Manuscript Repositories Section. You do not have to currently work in a manuscripts repository; a strong interest is all that's required! Elections will be held by electronic ballot in June 2024, and those selected will be announced at the Section meeting at the annual SAA held online (Date: TBD).
