The Accessioning, Acquisitions, and Appraisal Section invites everyone to what will be a fascinating discussion on Thursday, May 18, 10:00AM PT/11:00AM MT/12:00PM CT/ 1:00PM ET, featuring three excellent professionals who will present on various aspects of moving collections and/or renovating facilities:
Teri Hedgpeth, Director of Archives and Collections at MSG Entertainment and former United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) Director of Archives, will discuss the ABC's of moving collections. She has moved the USOPC archives into their newly created archives, a private collection, and most recently, facilitated the move of the MSG archives to a third-party vendor.
Aaron Ramirez, Manager of the Local History & Genealogy Department for the Pueblo City-County Library District, will discuss the renovation of his department. This renovation included working with a third-party vendor and leaving some collections in place while construction took place.
Caitlin Rizzo, Archivist for the Shelby White and Leon Levy Archives Center at the Institute for Advanced Study and former Head of Collection Services for Pennsylvania State University, will look back to discuss the ups and downs of managing a collection move. She will discuss efforts to move over 40,000 linear feet of archival materials from aging storage facilities into upgraded high-density storage.
