  • 1.  I&A Monthly Recap

    Posted Dec 01, 2020 03:57 PM

Happy December! After a short hiatus for the transition in leadership, we are happy to bring back everyone's favorite monthly recap email- the I&A Month in Review. We are just in time to celebrate the coming end of 2020, which has admittedly been a tough year for those of us committed to advocacy across the profession.

    ON THE BLOG
Are you keeping up with the I&A blog? Here's what's been published over the last month:

Be sure to check out Holly Croft's introduction as the new chair of the I&A Committee in her latest blog post. While you're on the site, take a moment to read Burkley Herrman's post on the on-going struggle to keep NARA's Seattle facility (along with their trove "tribal and treaty records of indigenous people living in the Pacific Northwest, and original case files for Chinese immigrants in the 19th century") open and accessible.

    ARCHIVISTS ON THE ISSUES

The I&A Steering Committee is welcoming pitches for upcoming blog posts. As part of our Archivists on the Issues blog series, we publish on a wide range of topics (archival labor, access, dismantling white supremacy in archives, etc.) and provide a platform for you to explore new work, thoughts, or even (professional and somewhat scholarly) rants!

This is a great way to get involved in the SAA community. Send all pitches to archivesissues@gmail.com. We will review and accept blog contributions on a rolling basis.

General guidelines for blog contributions can be viewed here.

    MEETINGS AND ZOOMS

The Steering Committee met on 11/30 and a joint advocacy meeting with CoPP, CoPA, I&A, and RAAC took place on 11/17. Minutes will be posted to our SAA microsite.
