The SNAP steering committee is requesting poster submissions to be presented at our Annual Section Meeting on Monday, May 4, 2026 at 3:00 pm CST on Zoom. As students and new professionals, we learn from each other by demonstrating a steadfast dedication to preserving history while promoting inclusion and diversity. As part of this year's meeting, we will be selecting individuals or groups to share their experience working on a project and what skills or knowledge they have gained in the process.
Those selected will present a visual poster presentation and speak for 5-10 minutes about their topic, including some time for questions. This is an opportunity to practice professional presentation skills, while also sharing advice and lessons learned as an early career archivist or student.
SNAP's theme for our section meeting is "Ways of Knowing," seeking to provide visibility to projects that increase possibilities of discovery for hidden or invisibilized histories. This theme should be incorporated in some way; however, presenters can interpret the theme in the manner of their choosing. The poster may describe a student chapter activity, an archival project undertaken as part of a job, volunteer experience, or anything else related to the development of archival professional skills.
Each poster will be shared on the SNAP blog the week before the meeting, allowing SNAP members, and the general public, time to view the posters before the presentation. During the meeting, each presenter can explain their experience more thoroughly and take questions from attendees.
Submissions do not need to be original and can represent points at the beginning, middle, and/or end of a project. We will accept posters that the authors have previously shown at other events, however, we expect the submitter to confirm that the other organization or conference does not require exclusive rights to the material. SAA does allow for posters appearing at this year's conference to be submitted at SNAP's section meeting as well.
Your posters should be visually engaging. Please feel free to be creative; there is no template. This is a great opportunity for first time presenters!
