The Accessioning, Acquisitions, and Appraisal Steering Committee has updated the Abandoned Property Project webpage for states which have passed new abandoned property laws in the last few years: https://www2.archivists.org/groups/accessioning-acquisitions-appraisal-section/abandoned-property-project.
These abandoned property laws govern how cultural institutions can acquire ownership of materials in their holdings which has been donated without surviving clear ownership transfers so that they may catalog, steward, or dispose of the property.
