  • 1.  Upcoming Triple A Talks!

    Posted Jan 23, 2024 04:24 PM

Join the Accessioning, Acquisitions, & Appraisal (AA&A) Section on Friday, February 16th for the first Triple A talk of 2024!

Kate Dundon, Haian Abdirahman, and Jaime Henderson of the National Best Practices for Archival Accessioning Working Group will be joining us to discuss the working group, current status of the guidelines, and allow for a Q&A session with the outreach committee.  Click here to register!

You can learn more about the working group at AccessioningBestPractices.com.

    Also!

The AA&A Section is planning to hold an informal discussion among colleagues about reappraisal and deaccessioning. The date and time of this discussion is still to be determined, but we are planning for this May.

The AA&A Section is looking for volunteers to participate in this discussion. Have you worked on re-appraisal and/or deaccessioning projects recently? We would value hearing about your experience. We are intentionally not asking for prepared talks or presentations, just a willingness to share your experiences with reappraisal and deaccessioning and engage with our other participants and attendees.

If you are interested in participating in the discussion, please send an email to bdoub@usc.edu with the following information:
    -- Name
    -- Email
    -- Institution
-- A few sentences describing your work with reappraisal and deaccessioning

The deadline to commit to participating in the discussion is February 29, 2024. We will finalize the day/time for this May discussion in early March.

Other resources concerning deaccessioning and reappraisal include Rachael Cristine Woody's upcoming webinar on deaccessioning (scheduled for 2/1/2024); SAA's Guidelines for Reappraisal and Deaccessioning; and the AA&A Section's Abandoned Property Project, which the AA&A Steering Committee recently updated in November of 2023.

    Best,
Accessioning, Acquisitions, & Appraisal Section Steering Committee
