Hello all,
I want to help spread the word that the University of Memphis will host two Society of American Archivists courses in our McWherter Library at the beginning of November.
Implementing "More Product, Less Process" #2616
November 5th from 9a-5p.
Early-bird registration cut off date: October 5th.
Arrangement and Description: Fundamentals #2615
November 6th & 7th from 9a-5p.
Early-bird registration cut off date: October 6th.
This is a great opportunity for anyone in the Southeastern or Eastern United States to be able to attend a course(s) in-person. Memphis has a lower cost of travel compared to other major cities in the U.S. where a lot of SAA in-person courses have been hosted in the past.
It is also a very fun city to explore for a few days and just to name a few: Sun Studios, Stax Museum, Graceland, National Civil Rights Museum, Beale Street, Memphis Rock 'n' Soul Museum, Memphis Zoo, Memphis Botanic Garden, The Peabody Hotel, Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, The Cotton Museum, Memphis Museum of Science and History, Memphis Music Hall of Fame, Belz Museum of Asian & Judaic Art, Dixon Gallery & Gardens, The Mallory-Neely House, Bass Pro, Overton Park, Shelby Farms, Tom Lee Park, Lichterman Nature Center, Big River Crossing, Elmwood Cemetary, the A. Schwab General Store, The Orpheum Theatre, Theatre Memphis, Playhouse on the Square, FedExForum, as well as lots of great local shops, sports events, and restaurants.
