Hi all,
I wanted to share this info on two talks next week on the use of Indigenous archives we're hosting here at
CNAIR
at the American Philosophical Society.
Both talks will be streamed online. Registration links and more information can be found at the links below.
Please join us if you can!
On
November 29, 12:00 - 1:00PM ET
"Ethical returns, access and complicating the archive" with Maura Sullivan
"This talk will explore the issue of access to archives. As a Chumash linguist researching archival materials the idea of access comes up a lot and I hope to detail the different ways that it takes shape. This will cover the logistics of accessing physical or digital copies of archives as an Indigenous researcher. How do institutions, both public and private, make decisions about how people interact with archives?"
On
November 30, 3:00 - 4:30 ET
, as part of our Indigenous Learning Forum series
"
Archival Material in Media Art - The 2023 Indigenous Gulf Stream with Hali Dardar
"
This presentation will explore archival material as ephemera for creative expression and consider the relational impact of an Indigenous art collective using archival materials in the 2023 biennial New Media art project the Indigenous Gulf Stream.
