The Society of California Archivists (SCA) Labor, Advocacy and Public Policy Committee is proud to announce the endorsement by SCA of Fair Labor Principles for the archival profession, now available on the SCA website.
In their final report, our colleagues on the SCA Task Force on Labor Issues Within the Profession (2019-2021) recommended that SCA adopt a set of Fair Labor Principles. In response, SCA Labor, Advocacy and Public Policy Committee members worked diligently to draft this document, which supports an open dialogue within the archival and memory-worker community regarding the most ethical and fair labor principles and practices that we, as members of this community, want to see encouraged in our profession. We thank everyone who has contributed ideas and feedback to this document and otherwise supported this collective endeavor, including the SCA Board, members, and the archival community.
You can access the principles on our SCA committee webpage. Feel free to distribute widely! We welcome all feedback at: advocacypublicpolicy@calarchivists.org!
