  • 1.  SAA Mentors Needed!

    Posted 13 hours ago

    Dear colleagues,

We need your help! There are 37 people currently looking for mentors, some of whom have been waiting for up to a year for a suitable match.

The Mentoring Program connects participants with shared interests in various aspects of the archival profession into 6-month mentoring partnerships. The goal is to cultivate career development and communication between members with areas of expertise and members who want to build their knowledge within those areas.

We currently have people seeking mentors who may have some of the following qualities:

    • Digital archives/digital preservation

    • Academic archives

    • Woman of color

    • Queer business or university archivist

    • National Park Service experience

    • Pacific timezone

Whether you've been an archivist for your whole career, or just a few years, chances are we can match you with someone who would benefit from your experiences. Some of our colleagues waiting for mentors are just getting started in the profession and are looking for advice on schools, classes, career trajectory, resume development and interviewing skills. For inspiration and insight into what a mentoring partnership looks like, we encourage you to read the posts on the SAA Membership Blog written by mentoring partners to learn how a relatively small commitment can make a big difference for a colleague's growth.

Please consider signing up to be a mentor by submitting this application (click on "Apply to be a mentor").

    Thank you for your consideration,

    Stasia Karel
