  • 1.  SAA Mentors Needed!

    Posted Jun 27, 2023 10:37 AM

    Dear colleagues,

The Society of American Archivists’ Mentoring Program is currently seeking additional mentoring volunteers! The Mentoring Program connects participants with shared interests in various aspects of the archival profession into 6-month mentoring partnerships. The goal is to cultivate career development and communication between members with areas of expertise and members who want to build their knowledge within those areas.

We currently have applicants seeking mentors who may have experience in some of the following:

    • Archival Processing; Experience in Academic Libraries/Archives; LGBTQ+ Archives; Collection Management: Community and Donor Relations; and more!

Don't think you have any expertise to share? Some of our colleagues waiting for mentors are just getting started in the profession and are looking for advice on schools, classes, career trajectory, resume development and interviewing skills. For inspiration and insight into what a mentoring partnership looks like, we encourage you to read the recent posts on the SAA Membership Blog written by recent mentoring partners to learn how a relatively small commitment can make a big difference for a colleague’s growth.

Please consider signing up to be a mentor by submitting this application (click on "Apply to be a mentor").

    Thanks for your consideration,

    Theresa Berger,

    SAA Mentoring Program
