The Society of American Archivists Manuscripts Repositories Section invites you to join us for the second session in our Spring 2023 Lunch and Learn series: Using GitHub.
March 2, 2023 12:00-1:30 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)
Overview:
This ninety-minute session will build on the introductory session by discussing some of the basics of accessing content in GitHub, and demonstrate the installation of two software tools, CSVkit (https://csvkit.readthedocs.io/en/latest/) and Tessa Walsh's Brunnhilde (https://www.bitarchivist.net/projects/brunnhilde/). Attendees will learn how to examine, understand, and install software found on GitHub. Topics covered will include evaluating software capabilities and dependencies, adding software to the PATH, configuring software, and troubleshooting software installation.
Presenters:
Josh Westgard is a Systems Librarian for Digital Programs and Initiatives at the University of Maryland College Park. He is a longtime instructor of Python programming courses in the College of Information Studies, and is also trained in medieval history and manuscript studies.
