  • 1.  SAA and AHA Present History Behind the Headlines: Presidential Records Act

    Posted Mar 27, 2023 04:47 PM

Join SAA and the American Historical Association (AHA) for an online roundtable about current controversies surrounding presidential records. Why is the FBI searching residences of former presidents and vice presidents? Does any of this matter to anyone besides archivists and historians?

    Panelists:

    • Nicole Hemmer, director of Rogers Center for the American Presidency and associate professor of history at Vanderbilt University.
    • Timothy Naftali, clinical associate professor of history and public service at New York University.
    • Trudy Huskamp Peterson, SAA Fellow, Certified Archivist, and former acting archivist of the United States.

    Moderated by:

    • Peniel Joseph, associate dean for justice, equity, diversity and inclusion; professor of public affairs; Barbara Jordan Chair in Ethics and Political Values; and founding director, Center for the Study of Race and Democracy at the University of Texas at Austin.

To attend the discussion on April 4 at 3:30 p.m. ET, please register below. Can't make it? Don't worry—register anyway and receive the link to the recording, which will be posted to the AHA YouTube channel after the event.
