    Original post:

Join the Women Archivists Section for a presentation given by Taylor Schuler, Special Collections Technician at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, entitled Pink Collars and Glass Escalators: The Role of Femininity in Librarianship. In this presentation, Schuler will synthesize research around the topic of 'pink collar' jobs, a name given to occupations in which the majority of the workforce is female. Additionally, the 'glass escalator' phenomenon will be explored, in which men in pink collar jobs rise the ranks more quickly than women do. The research conducted seeks to answer questions on how these attitudes came to be and what we can do to move towards a legitimization of the LIS field by being aware of these attitudes.

The event will take place on December 2nd at 12:00 PM CT. Participants need not be members of the Women Archivist Section to attend. Register at the following link: https://msstate.webex.com/weblink/register/r8b282afee0e4e976b671686969eb380c

    This presentation will be recorded.
