Dear Colleagues,
The SAA UX Steering Committee is excited to announce our first event of the 2025 calendar year. Please join us for "A UX Journey: Identifying Problems and Solutions and Improving User Experience in Increments" on Friday, February 21 from 1-2:30 EST. This 90-minute, interactive workshop, led by Shelby Kroske and Sruthin Gaddam (Michigan State University Libraries), will introduce participants to basic UX testing techniques, provide adaptive models for conducting UX studies with limited resources, and model next steps after testing to identify high impact solutions that improve user experience. This workshop is especially geared towards beginner UX practitioners and those just starting their UX journeys, however, we invite participants of all backgrounds and levels of experience to join.
Please note: Registration is required for this event. Registration will be limited to 50 participants to best support the structure of the workshop which includes breakout groups and other participant-driven activities. This event will be recorded and auto-generated Zoom captions will be provided. A recording will also be made available on the SAA UX section microsite.

More about the presenters:
Shelby Kroske has been on the Web & User Experience team at the Michigan State University Libraries since 2020, and was an in-house print designer for the Libraries for many years previously. In her current role, she follows an evidence-backed design process to create wireframes, prototypes, and mockups for accessible and approachable digital interfaces and internal building wayfinding. Shelby received her MPS in User Experience Design in 2021, and is now lead UX Designer for the Libraries (by day) and a professor of graphic design at MSU in the evenings.
Sruthin Gaddam joined the MSU Libraries in January 2015 as a student employee and as a firm believer of lifelong learning he pursued a graduate degree in Library Information Science and Human Computer Interaction. Being User Experience Librarian at the MSU Libraries provided him with opportunities to identify usability problems on Libraries' digital interfaces and physical services and provide actionable insights to the identified problems. He is passionate about designing and building equitable experiences for all users, taking additional measures to ensure that Libraries' interfaces are accessible to a diverse group of audience.
