Archival Landscapes is a virtual seminar series of the International Archival Affairs Section of the Society of American Archivists. In each seminar, an international guest speaker introduces participants to the issues and advancements in their local context, describing the history, operating environment and unique aspects of archival practice in their country.

Elizabeth Marima is a passionate archivist with over 15 years of experience in university-based research archives and 6 years of academic librarianship. She holds a Masters in LIS (Archives Management) from the University of Fort Hare, South Africa. Elizabeth worked at the South African History Archive (SAHA), a prominent South African archive for justice. Prior to joining the Historical Papers Research Archive at the University of the Witwatersrand, where she presently works, she was a staff member at the University's institutional archive and records office.
Originally trained as a typesetter in Berlin, Gabriele Mohale later studied Printing Technologies in Leipzig, and subsequently worked in that field for several years. Coming to South Africa in 1991, she studied and completed a MA (Heritage Studies) at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2009. She joined the Historical Papers Research Archive in 2007, and over the years became increasingly instrumental in accentuating the role and status of archives in civil society, in partnership with academic departments and civil society archives and organisations. Since 2020, she serves as a Bureau member of the Section on University and Research Institution Archives (SUV), of the International Council on Archives (ICA).
