  • 1.  REMINDER: MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THE IAAS ARCHIVAL VISTAS BRIEFINGS EVENT / JUNE 16, 12-1P EDT

    Posted Jun 15, 2023 04:35 PM

    Good day colleagues,

This is a reminder for you to join us for the third and last of three Archival Vistas Briefings 2023 virtual events!

As a companion to the successful IAAS Archival Landscapes series, the SAA International Archival Affairs Section is pleased to continue this additional initiative.

Archival Vistas Briefings is a series of virtual events that addresses topics or subjects that literally know no boundaries, geographic or otherwise. This year's focus is "archives at risk."

We conclude this year's journey with a most poignant finale by hosting a conversation with Dr. Maryna Paliienko (Марина Палієнко), Head of the Archival Science and Special Branches of History Department, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine.

Dr. Paliienko will discuss her education, experience, and current engagement as an archivist in the middle of an ongoing set of extreme crises: those associated with the Russian invasion of sovereign Ukraine.

Please register for the event at

    https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZwtd-2vqzooGtF_fxOjGP-Y22DXaek-Z8sf#/registration

And please join us via zoom on June 16, 12-1p, EDT at

    https://us06web.zoom.us/j/88004751205

For full transparency, this event will be recorded and accessible via the SAA YouTube channel playlist, "Archival Vistas Briefings" #IAAS. Feel free to view the earlier Vistas Briefings videos with Mr. Jacob Nadal and Dr. Saad Eskander at your leisure.

Please share this message widely; all are welcome to attend!

Thank you for making this inaugural year for the Vistas program so successful…and stay tuned for the selection of next year's theme in the coming weeks -- we certainly welcome your suggestions!

Thank you very much for your interest and see you on June 16 if not before!

    Sincerely,
    Prof. Karen Trivette, MLS
    IAAS Steering Committee
