The Special Collections unit of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) Library seeks a dynamic candidate for the 18-month, non-tenure track faculty appointment of Project Archivist beginning August 1, 2024 and ending January 31, 2026. This is a great opportunity for an early career professional interested in working in a collaborative environment that stresses a standards-based approach to curation.
The successful candidate will process and describe 125 linear feet of archival material amassed by Tommie F. Brown (1934- ), an accomplished civic leader, educator, researcher, and state legislator whose career is defined by historic firsts, including serving from 1992-2012 as the first Black woman to represent the 28th District in the Tennessee House of Representatives.
The Project Archivist position is generously funded by the National Historical Publications & Records Commission (NHPRC) to complete "One of the Black Legislators": Providing Access to the Tommie F. Brown Papers (RH-103542-23).
The minimum annual salary is $53,000, commensurate with experience.
Candidates must submit applications electronically through the UTC Faculty Career Site at https://ut.taleo.net/careersection/utc_faculty/jobdetail.ftl?job=24000000C1. The review of applications begins on April 8, 2024 and continues until the position is filled. Candidates who apply before the review of applications begins will receive first consideration.
