    Posted May 27, 2025 04:49 PM

Reminder - the deadline is approaching!

The Local Government Records Section and Government Records Section have merged! The reformed Government Records Section is seeking nominations for the following positions:

    • One (1) Vice Chair: The Vice Chair shall be elected annually for a two-year term, serving in year one as a Vice Chair and in year two as Chair. *After completion of the two-year term, the immediate past Chair will continue to serve for another year as a non-voting, ex officio Steering Committee member.
    • Five (5) Steering Committee members. If possible, at-large members will include at least one representative each for Tribal, Federal, State, and Local governments. The at-large members will serve in staggered, two-year terms. *As this section is newly merged, some steering committee members may choose to serve a one-year term.

In the 2025-2026 year, the Section will be focusing on the newly created and accepted goals and objectives:

    • Encourage and facilitate communication and collaboration between professionals working with, and interested in, government records.
    • Cultivate community within the Section and among government records professionals of diverse experience and perspectives.
    • Advocate for issues important to members of the Section and government records professionals.

In addition, the Section will focus on identifying multiple ways to encourage member involvement and finalization of merger tasks.

If interested, please complete the Nomination Form. Self-nominations are welcome! As a reminder, Steering Committee candidates must be SAA members.

Nominations must be submitted by Sunday, June 1. Elections will take place in late June/early July.
