    Please join us for the next Archival Vistas Briefings conversation, Where in the World are Karen and Rebecca?: Personal experiences of international work and education

     

    Archival Vistas Briefings is a virtual program series based around a theme, offered by the International Archival Affairs Section of the Society of American Archivists.

     

    This year's theme is international work and educational opportunities. Previous discussions this year included the Fulbright Award, study abroad, and global PhD education.

     

    Real-time captioning as well as American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services will be provided to support communication access needs.

     

    Guest speakers: Rebecca Hankins and Karen Trivette

    About the speakers:

    Professor Rebecca Hankins, a 2016-2020 President Barack Obama appointee to the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC), is a Full Professor in the Department of Global Languages and Cultures, College of Arts and Sciences at Texas A&M University. She teaches courses on African Diaspora Literature, Women's & Gender Studies, Religious Studies, and Research Methods, with an international and national lens on these subjects. She recently held the Library Fellowship at The West African Research Center in Dakar, Senegal, about which she will speak.

     

    Professor Karen Trivette is Head of (Library) Special Collections and College Archives at the Fashion Institute of Technology-State University of New York (FIT). At FIT, she oversees the care and provision of over 6000 linear feet of special collections and archives materials. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (BA Art History) and the University at Albany-State University of New York (MLS Library Science/Archives Management). She serves as Junior Co-chair of the International Archival Affairs Section of the Society of American Archivists. She has presented at many international, national, and local archives conferences and has written and/or edited many publications on topics. Karen will speak about her current experience pursuing a PhD in Archival Science from Alma Mater Europaea-European Center Maribor, Slovenia.
