    Malia Van Heukelem will discuss collection disaster response and recovery work to the 2023 Maui wildfires, in service to the community on behalf of University of Hawaiʻi and as a volunteer National Heritage Responder. She will talk about the initial response, ongoing recovery, experiences and lessons learned. Bring your emergency preparedness questions!
     
    Malia oversees the Jean Charlot Collection, a large collection of artist papers, plus the Archive of Hawaii Artists & Architects at University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, Hamilton Library. Previously, she worked in the Library's Preservation Department, and has served as Collections Manager for the state's Art in Public Places Collection and for 'Iolani Palace. She has volunteered as a National Heritage Responder since 2011.
     
    Registration is required but open to all, including non-SAA members.
