Happy American Archives Month! This month offers a great opportunity to make your archives program and the profession more visible. We've got four easy ways to get involved:

    1. Participate in #AskAnArchivist Day on Thursday, October 16, when archivists around the country will answer questions and share details about archives. Find ideas for promoting the day in your communities and develop a plan with your colleagues to respond to questions. Follow other #AskAnArchivist Day participants, email Julia Pillard with your institution's BlueSky handle to join the list, and share a photo of the most interesting thing in your archives with SAA for a chance to be featured on Instagram!
    2. Take part in the Council of State Archivists' Electronic Records Day on October 10 to highlight the importance of electronic records and digital preservation issues in government and in our lives. Get involved on social media using #ErecsDay.
    3. Plan an event or issue a press release to attract media coverage. SAA has evergreen resources to assist you in enhancing public awareness of your repository and your profession. Download the American Archives Month graphic (above) for use in promoting your events.
    4. Advocate for archives! It's so important to bring attention to the work of archivists and the archives profession. Watch "Raising Your Voice for Archives," SAA's webinar providing training to assist archives who want to speak up on issues surrounding archives as they emerge. Find out when your Representative and Senators will be "home" during American Archives Month. It's the perfect time to begin building a relationship!
