Please join us for a coffee chat with Melissa Davis from the George C. Marshall Foundation and actor Will Roberts as they discuss their collaboration in helping Will research his roll as General Marshall in Chrisopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. Melissa and Will worked together remotely to help Will access archival records to prepare for his role on the film and Melissa learned a lot about working with the movie industry.
Melissa Davis is the Director of Library and Archives at the George C. Marshall Foundation in Lexington, VA. She previously worked a decade as an academic librarian specializing in history. Melissa received her MLIS from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. She and her husband have three grown children and two large rescue dogs.
Will Roberts grew up in the South Side of Chicago. His career in theater, television and movies spans 40 years of multi-talented work and includes a stint with Cirque du Soleil. He portrayed Gen. George C. Marshall in a small but pivotal role in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. In addition to acting, Will is a trick roper and an expert in fancy six-gun handling, holding a Guiness World Record in gun spinning. He’s also a magician, and owns the oldest magic shop in California, Zucchini’s, on Monterey’s Cannery Row.
Will and his wife have two children, ages 11 and 14. He says his wife “ensures he navigates through the complexities of life with ease;” and that their son is a “mini-me,” sharing his zest for life. Will says no family portrait would be complete without mentioning their standard poodle Teddy, who fills their home with love and Wookie vocalizations.
The coffee chat will be March 11th at 1:00 Eastern/12:00 Central/11:00 Mountain/ 10:00 Pacific. A meeting invite is attached to this message and the link to join is below.
