If you'll be in New Orleans for the SAA Annual Meeting, we would love to invite you to join us for SNACSchool on Tuesday, July 29 before all the SAA fun really begins! Since the first day of the annual meeting is devoted primarily to committee meetings, we hope this provides an additional opportunity to connect with colleagues and build practical skills before the conference program begins.
Social Networks and Archival Contexts (SNAC) is a free, online discovery tool working to aggregate global archival collections to create biographical records. SNACSchool is our cooperative educational programming team, offering free programs centered on SNAC's research and reference capabilities, community creation and editing of records, and technical skills to expand your skillset and workflow.
Whether you're new to SNAC or already familiar with the platform, this interactive Create and Edit session will introduce participants to creating and editing archival authority data in SNAC. We'll cover the basics of working with SNAC records, refresh our memories on archival authority control, demonstrate editing workflows, and provide plenty of time for guided practice and questions.
The workshop is open to archivists, librarians, students, and anyone interested in archival description and authority data. No prior SNAC experience is required.
