Dear archives colleagues,
There is still plenty of time to submit a contribution to SAA's 250 for the 250th project! This is an excellent opportunity to highlight your repository, put your holdings into direct conversation with material from around the country, and contribute to a project that foregrounds the importance of archives in America's civic education.
We have received some incredible contributions so far, from a range of different kinds of repositories, including university archives, historical societies, private archives, corporate archives, botanical garden, art museums, museums, and public libraries. A few examples:
Religious and political figures, social movements, founding documents, the natural world, and industrial development are all represented, among many other topics. We've received submissions from more than half of the states and territories with California and Pennsylvania leading the way in submissions. As of last week, we still need contributions from:
- Alabama
- Alaska
- Colorado
- Delaware
- Idaho
- Iowa
- Louisiana
- Maine
- Minnesota
- Mississippi
- Montana
- New Hampshire
- North Dakota
- Rhode Island
- Vermont
- Wisconsin
- American Samoa
- Guam
- Northern Mariana Islands
- Puerto Rico
- United States Virgin Islands
Don't get left out! If you'd like to contribute, please email SAAAmerica250TaskForce@archivists.org to request a submission link. You can review the instructions on the task force microsite.
Thank you to everyone who has already contributed and please take some time to explore the portal. New material is being added regularly, so be sure to check back.
You're welcome to contact me directly if you have any questions.
Best,
