The Black Film Center & Archive at Indiana University - Bloomington seeks a Project Archivist for a 3-year NEH grant-funded position to process and digitize the personal papers of Senegalese filmmaker, producer, and historian, Paulin S. Vieyra (1925-1987). Vieyra was an instrumental figure in the development of post-colonial Senegalese and larger African Cinemas. He was one of the founders of FESPACO, FEPACI and other notable African film organizations, as well as a mentor to Ousmene Sembene and other influential figures from the post-colonial period. The collection contains papers, photographs, audiovisual materials, equipment, memorabilia and other ephemera. The vast majority of the collection is in French and French proficiency is preferred. The deadline to apply is June 23.
