    Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, Digital Archivist, Mississippi State University Libraries

    Mississippi State University Libraries seeks an innovative, dynamic, and team-oriented Digital Archivist. The successful candidate will offer their expertise and guidance to digitize, preserve, and make accessible digitized and born-digital archival collections for the Department of Archives and Special Collections, the Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Library, and the Frank and Virginia Williams Collection of Lincolniana.

    This is a 12-month, tenure-track position, which reports directly to the Associate Dean of Archives and Special Collections. As a tenure-track faculty member, the Digital Archivist will be expected to demonstrate engagement in the areas of librarianship, scholarship, and service as outlined in the Libraries' Promotion & Tenure Policy.

    y Responsibilities:

    • Lead the Digital Preservation and Access Unit.
    • Coordinate the planning, prioritization, implementation, and evaluation of all digital archive projects.
    • Manage digital archival content for long-term preservation and access.
    • Handle patron requests and inquiries related to digital archival content.
    • Research, design, document, and execute policies, procedures, and standards associated with digital archives initiatives adherent to the latest digitization, preservation, and metadata standards as recommended by entities such as the Digital Library Federation, Library of Congress, National Information Standards Organization, and the Society of American Archivists.
    • Collaborate with other library departments such as the Digital Initiatives and Web Services Unit to maintain and enhance digital asset management systems (e.g., Digital Commons, Omeka, and Preservica).
    • Lead the exploration/implementation of new digital asset management systems.
    • Coordinate activities and projects with the Mississippi Digital Library, the Association of Southeastern Research Libraries, and other related digital preservation and access networks.
    • Lead or assist in developing proposals for external funding for digital preservation projects.
    • Engage with the academic community through scholarship and professional service.
    • Contribute to departmental and library-wide initiatives and goals.
