Work location: National Gallery of Art West Building, 6th Street and Constitution Avenue., NW, Washington, DC
Intern start/end dates: June 10 – August 11, 2024 (9 weeks; 40 hours/week, onsite)
Pay rate: $25.26/hour (total salary compensation of $9,093.60). Additional stipend of $1,818 for transportation and living expenses
Total compensation: $10,911.60
Supervisor: Deputy Chief of Archives
Requirements: Must be a graduate student with concentration in archives/records management (minimum of 2 semesters completed or graduated in the last 6 months). Physical requirements include climbing ladders and stairs and lifting up to 40 lbs.
Internship description: The intern will process selected holdings of the Archives. The intern will work with analog materials, time-based media holdings, and/or born digital records. Activities will include arrangement, description, basic preservation, and metadata creation. Work may include using MPLP techniques employed by the Archives. The internship will offer hands-on experience in applying professional archival techniques, protocols, and standards to historical collections. The intern will participate with other interns in National Gallery orientation, weekly educational sessions, and mentorship activities.
