Join Apollo Theater archivist Brad San Martin for an expanded version of his presentation at this year’s SAA annual meeting, in which he traces the progress of the historic theater’s archives over the past six years – a time in which the Apollo Theater Archives has transitioned from a sprawling, uncatalogued collection to a centralized, searchable resource. Now that the collection is under control, the Apollo now asks what can be done with it, how it can be utilized for public programming, and how best to leverage the theater’s legacy, history, and connections to generate compelling in-person and online events.

E2 is ecstatic to continue the E2 Hour program series for 2024-2025. E2 Hour is designed to help us build community with each other around topics of common interest and concern. The vibe for these gatherings is low-key, informal, and collegial—one where everyone is welcome and ideas and experiences circulate freely. Each E2 Hour will begin with a presentation on a specific theme or topic and will finish with an open-ended conversation among attendees.
