"Engaging the Space Between Minimal Processing and Inclusive Description to Create More Sustainable and Ethical Workflows" article discussion with Lexy deGraffenreid

    Monday, February 9, 2026, 1:00-2:00 pm EST

Please join the Description Section as we welcome Lexy deGraffenreid (Assistant University Librarian for Special Collections Technical Services, Princeton University) for a wide-ranging discussion based on her 2024 article, "Engaging the Space Between Minimal Processing and Inclusive Description to Create More Sustainable and Ethical Workflows." In the article, deGraffenreid considers the imperative to reconcile two prominent theoretical currents in archival literature: the implementation of minimal descriptive practices and the need for more inclusive, reparative practices.

Following a directed Q&A with deGraffenreid, we will open the floor to questions and reflections based on her article. We invite participants to pose questions ahead of time on this shared document (please submit any questions by Friday, February 6). This session will not be recorded to better afford an open space for discussion.
