    Posted Sep 08, 2025 09:46 AM

Join the Exhibits and Events Committee (E2) of the Reference, Access and Outreach Section of SAA for the first E2 Hour of 2025-2026: The Russell Library at Half a Century: Planning Institutional Anniversary Programming.

Speakers Kaylynn Washnock Stooksbury, Outreach Archivist, and Meredith Young, Events & Programming Specialist, both at the University of Georgia Special Collections Libraries, will discuss the 50th anniversary of the Richard B. Russell Library for Political Research and Studies. This presentation explores the development, planning, and execution of a year-long series of events honoring the Library's 50th anniversary. From the initial brainstorming and stakeholder engagement to logistical coordination and outreach, the session highlights the collaborative efforts (with the Foundation, Libraries, and the larger University) behind public programs and the challenges we faced planning the initiatives.

    This E2 Hour will be on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 2pm Eastern/ 1pm Central/ 12pm Mountain/ 11am Pacific.

Advance registration is required at https://forms.gle/pEt5PbtbEUiqACpw5. Further E2 Hours planned for 2025-2026 include Moving legacy digital exhibits to Omeka S on November 14, 2025; documentation in early 2026; and Supporting Students through Exhibits: Creating Thought Provoking Exhibits in Difficult Times in May 2026.

E2 is pleased to continue the E2 Hour program series for 2025-2026. E2 Hours are designed to help us build community with each other around topics of common interest and concern. The vibe for these gatherings is low-key, informal, and collegial—one where everyone is welcome and ideas and experiences circulate freely. We want the presentations to be followed by open-ended conversations with the presenters and among attendees.

If you are interested in presenting at a future E2 Hour or giving a tour of your exhibition or repository, contact Amy Schindler amycschindler@gmail.com or Gwyn Hervochon gwynhervochon@boisestate.edu to volunteer and discuss further.
