The Center for Puerto Rican Studies Library & Archives at Hunter College, CUNY is holding a community/personal archiving hybrid symposium Thursday, November 9, 2023, to Saturday, November 11, 2023 for Puerto Rican Heritage Month!
"Preserving Our Heritage: A Weekend of Community Archiving at CENTRO" explores the significance of preserving and documenting the historical memory of diasporic and minority communities. As part of CENTRO's 50th Anniversary, we aim to make our archival experience and knowledge accessible to all. Through multiple educational panels with industry experts on community archiving, copyright and acquisitions, and working with artists as donors, and a hands-on workshop, we hope to empower our community and ensure our collective legacies are woven into the tapestry of global heritage.
This event, with the support of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture (NYPL), Lesbian Herstory, The Whitney Museum, and XFR Collective will take place from Thursday, November 9, 2023 to Saturday, November 11, 2023 at The Silberman School of Social Work Auditorium in El Barrio (East Harlem), New York City and the panels on Thursday and Friday will be available virtually and in person.
