The Technical Subcommittee for Encoded Archival Standards (TS-EAS) is responsible for the ongoing maintenance of EAD and EAC-CPF as well as the development of future companion standards, such as Encoded Archival Context for Functions (EAC-F).
We are seeking self-nominations from the archival community to join TS-EAS. We are seeking to fill three international and one SAA based vacancies in TS EAS during the fall of 2025. We seek new members through open calls and will evaluate all applications.
Anyone outside of the United States who has experience working with or implementing archival encoding standards is encouraged to apply as an international member.
Next year, the committee will be focused on the following major areas of work:
-
Continue to enhance our outreach and education campaign;
-
After approval from council start the work with the next revision of the EAS standards;
-
Continue to work with the Best Practices Guide (BPG).
To volunteer to assist us with these projects, please fill out the form at https://app.smarterselect.com/programs/76215-Society-Of-American-Archivists by December 15, 2025. Appointments will be made for three-year terms beginning in August 2026.
