Hi everyone, please share this with your networks, especially in the Orange County area!
The Community Archiving Workshop (CAW) Collective is looking for partners for a day-long workshop on Sunday, August 24th, as part of the Society of American Archivists conference being held in Anaheim, California.
The Community Archiving Workshop is a one-day workshop that centers community building and collections care. It brings together archivists and community volunteers to support the inspection and inventory of an audiovisual (film, video, audio) collection of a local organization and/or individual (artist, filmmaker, etc). Participants get hands-on training that they can use to address the challenges of their own collections. The workshop was designed to address audiovisual collections, but it can be applied to all material types, including mixed media and digital collections.
Through the workshop, collection partners, site hosts, and other day-of participants will learn to identify different audiovisual formats and their risk factors, establish controlled vocabulary for description of collections, and document and prioritize collections for preservation. Following the workshop, collections partners and host sites will receive a $1,000 stipend to support their preservation goals.
👉🏽 If you are interested in being a partner please fill out this survey to the best of your knowledge by June 14, 2025 and we will contact you soon with further questions and details.
