Join the Oral History Section Steering Committee!

Are you looking for ways to expand your professional circle and contribute to the archives and oral history communities? If so, join the leadership of the Oral History Section (OHS)! Nominate yourself or a colleague to become a member of the OHS Steering Committee Committee. All dues-paying members of SAA, particularly students and early-career SAA members, are encouraged to apply.

OHS is always seeking new ideas to support section members. Recently, we have focused on programming events and collaborating with other SAA sections and aligned organizations. Want to see more or different kinds of initiatives? Bring your ideas and your energy to OHS!

The following positions open on the OHS Steering Committee:

    • Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect (3-year commitment, as Vice-Chair, Chair, and Past Chair)

Serves as acting chair in the absence of the chair, organizes the annual meeting of the section (and leads it in their first year), sets the agenda of the Steering Committee, and participates as a member of the Steering Committee in all its activities. This is an officer level position. Expect approximately 2-4 hours of committee work a month.

    • Steering Committee Member (2-year commitment)

Assists the committee in setting and completing the section's annual work. Expect approximately 1-2 hours of committee work a month.

If interested, submit a brief biography and statement of interest by Friday, April 24, 2026. The biography and statement should each be about one to two paragraphs in length. Send your nomination, along with any questions, to Anu Kasarabada at akasarabls@gmail.com

    Sincerely,

    Anu Kasarabada
