The BAS Steering Committee is seeking candidate nominations for the 2026 election. Past and current committee members (me included) have found it an extremely valuable way to network and get more involved with their business colleagues and the larger SAA organization.

Please consider nominating yourself or a colleague! There are five positions available with varying commitment lengths:

• Vice Chair/Chair-Elect (three-year commitment as Vice Chair, Chair, and Immediate Past Chair)
• Education Chair (one-year commitment)
• Vice Editor/Editor-Elect (two-year commitment as Vice Editor and Editor)
• Secretary (one-year commitment)
• Member at Large (one-year commitment)

The 2026-2027 term will begin following the 2026 SAA Annual Meeting, with winners being announced at the BAS colloquium on Wednesday, July 29.

Having served on Steering Committees for multiple sections, I can say from personal experience the time commitment is relatively minimal. It can be a couple hours a month to as much as you want to put into it. We're all business archivists and understand that time is at a premium, so we all do our best to work as efficiently as possible.

It's thanks to our amazing membership that the Business Archives Section continues to flourish. If you've never volunteered for a Steering Committee role, BAS is a great place to test the waters. We need members like you to volunteer and keep the section strong.
