The Colorado State University Water Resources Archive is now welcoming applications for the Water Scholar Award. This annual award grants funding to researchers whose work on western water would benefit from access to the collection. The award is intended to help offset the expenses of researchers engaged in studies that will benefit from access to the holdings of the Water Resources Archive as well as costs associated with presentations, publications, or other products resulting from that research.

For the 2026 award, the total amount of funding is capped at $3,900, to be allocated to a maximum of three applications. Please apply only for the amount needed.

About the Water Resources Archive

Providing original sources about Colorado and western water history, the CSU Libraries' Water Resources Archive holds a wealth of materials untapped by scholars. This unique archive has strengths in the history of irrigation, civil engineering, interstate compacts and court cases, water law, management, and endangered species. The geographic focus is Colorado along with connected water resources. The collection holdings can be viewed at https://lib.colostate.edu/water/ .
